Our innovative biogas scrubber
Once the bio-waste has been digested in the digester, biogas begins to be produced by anaerobic bacteria. The resulting gas must be treated before it can be used to generate energy. However, this purification process can be complex and quite costly for small-scale units such as the BioCapsule®.
At Arkeale, we have designed an innovative, ‘low-tech’ biogas purifier to make anaerobic digestion sustainable and accessible.
The challenge of biogas purification
Biogas produced by anaerobic digestion contains around 40 per centbiogenicCO₂. This high content limits direct energy recovery and requires extensive treatment before the gas can be utilised.
ExistingCO₂ separation solutionsare costly, complex and too bulky to be cost-effective for small-scale anaerobic digestion units, such as the BioCapsule®.

Our R&D teams have been working to find a solution to thisproblem, enabling us to reduce investment costs and minimise the size of the separator so that it can be integrated intoour unit’s design, which prioritisescompactnessand simplicity.
The BioCapsule® now incorporates acompact, cyclic water-wash scrubber.
